With more and more Loxone Installers adopting KNX as their preferred protocol, we are regularly asked for a breakdown on how Loxone Air compares to KNX RF. In a nutshell, the two are closely related from a technology point of view.
Both Loxone Air and KNX RF share a number of core traits as laid out in the below table:

Whilst the KNX industry embraces the benefits of RF technologies, the reliability of cable cannot be overlooked and the Twisted Pair (TP) remains the primary focus for the global industry. KNX RF provides a solution for integrators to achieve control where cabling is not possible and as such, TP and RF can be used together in the same installation.
